There are three main reasons why PMI certification is a real waste of time. We are going to list all three of these reasons and why you should keep your hopes set on a more rewarding future through different accreditation programs. You couldn’t make PMI certification worth your while if you tried. Employer after employer will tell you. They don’t want employees with this certification because they aren’t sure if they can perform in the real world. They aren’t sure if they can apply their skills to a real world job scenario. This brings us to the three reasons.
1. PMI certification doesn’t represent a guarantee to employers.
Just because someone gets this accreditation doesn’t mean that they will be able to apply the knowledge and skills to a real job. Most likely, people who gets this accreditation can’t get their CISSP certification. CISSP is a much more rewarding path to be on. In order to get the certification, you have to have 5 years of real life job experience. Network security requirements don’t get any tougher than the CISSP but it’s a much more rewarding accreditation. The PMI certification doesn’t require that people have real world job experience. This is a red flag to employers to reject the application.
2. PMI Certification is unnecessarily expensive.
PMI certification training courses literally cost thousands of dollars. The certification itself is not able to justify the cost. Not enough employers are looking for the PMI certification. PMI certification is useful if you want to couple it with a CISSP accreditation but PMI certification alone will get you nowhere.
3. PMI Certification isn’t as valuable as CISSP certification.
PMI certification is a valuable accreditation but without real world job experience employers won’t even consider you. With CISSP certification, employers are sure that they have an employee that’s worth having. Employees with CISSP certification have guaranteed network security experience, able to handle drastic work loads without the employer having to worry about the performance of their employees.
